3 At-Home Skin Treatments to Try This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day may look a bit different this year, but whether you plan on celebrating it with your significant other or enjoying a solo movie night, Dr. Zenovia has you covered with three easy, at-home skin treatments to try. Adhering to a daily skincare regimen is imperative for skin health, but it’s always nice to set aside some extra time and indulge in a skincare treatment occasionally. Dr. Zenovia recommends using exfoliating peel pads, derma-rolling, and sealing in hydration for the ultimate at-home, spa-like glow.

Treatment #1: Try an Exfoliating Peel

Peels strip down the dead skin layer, known as the stratum corneum, helping to reveal our healthy, live epidermal tissue. Infused with a powerful combination of Glycolic and Salicylic Acids, Dr. Zenovia’s Peel Pads promote the skin’s cellular renewal process, unclog pores, and accelerate the removal of dead skin cells. A tingling sensation may occur upon application, which is normal. Using Glycolic Acid once to twice a week can help debride blackheads and clear the pores while still being tolerable for sensitive skin. This ingredient also helps skin creams and serums absorb more easily.

Treatment #2: Derma-Roll

Microneedling is reserved for aestheticians and nurses. However, there are Derma-rollers on the market that serve as superficial needling devices and are safe to use at home. With very short needles, derma-rollers create both friction and micro-trauma to induce collagen production. By derma-rolling, tiny micro-channels are created in the superficial epidermis, making an opening for deeper penetration of your topicals. Derma-rolling one to three times a week is a great way to keep the facial skin stimulated. Sephora sells some great at-home derma-rollers.

Treatment #3: Deep Hydration

While applying a facial moisturizer should be done daily and doesn’t sound like a special treatment, we rarely take the time to apply a serum and let it soak into our skin before applying a rich facial cream.

Facial serums are designed to be highly concentrated formulations that deliver targeted active ingredients to address your specific skin concerns – whether it’s dryness, aging, or acne. There are two types of serums: water-based and oil-based. Water-based serums absorb more quickly into the skin and serve as a delivery system for water-soluble ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid. Oil-based serums take a bit longer to absorb into the skin but serve as great nighttime treatments. Dr. Zenovia’s Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Serum features fractionated Hyaluronic Acid and Dr. Zenovia’s proprietary REG-ulate 360 Complex™ to provide intense hydration and nourishment while helping to visibly plump skin. Gently massage this serum into the skin using circular motions, bringing the product down to the neck.

After giving the skin a few minutes to absorb the serum, follow up with a moisturizer packed with Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid to protect the skin barrier. Dr. Zenovia’s Peptide + Ceramide Repairing Moisturizer contains a unique combination of bio-equivalent ceramides, potent humectants, and emollients that help attract, retain and distribute moisture to fortify the skin’s protective barrier and combat dryness for a glowing, radiant complexion.
